They say most accidents take place in the home -- but that doesn't make it any less scary when it happens. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale spent an anxious night in the emergency room on Thursday after their 2-year-old son Zuma took an unexpected fall from a countertop in the family's home. Luckily, the little guy is okay, except for a broken right arm. His dad, on the other hand, is still shaken up.
"It was one of the worst nights of our lives," Rossdale told People on Saturday night. "It was one of those freak events... a freak accident."
Rossdale calls the incident "horrific," but says that his youngest son is totally "fine now."
"It's almost worse for us (as parents)," the rocker admits. "The kids are never alone and you turn your back -- it takes a split second."
Luckily, kids often recover from these things faster than their parents do! Prior to Zuma's accident, the Stefani-Rossdales seemed to be having an amazing summer. Gwen and Gavin were among the best-dressed couples at the Cannes Film Festival, and the whole family spent Memorial Day weekend frolicking on Malibu Beach with Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise. Hopefully they'll all be in better spirits when Rossdale guest-stars on Burn Notice in a few weeks!
