Details have been scarce about this summer's potential blockbuster "Super 8," as J.J. Abrams and company have maintained their typical air of secrecy about the thriller, which hits theaters on June 10. All that could change on Sunday night, when viewers will get a sneak peek at the Steven Spielberg-produced movie at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.

Both director Abrams and Spielberg will join "Super 8" stars Elle Fanning and Joel Courtney on the stage of the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, to present never-before-seen footage from the film, which chronicles a mysterious event accidentally caught on film by the cast of young stars.

All we know so far about the movie's plot is that while making a homemade zombie movie, a group of kids film "something" escaping a train crash. And whatever it is sends their town into turmoil. The "Super 8" trailer has earned comparisons to such Spielberg classics as 1977's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

Earlier this year, Abrams explained to MTV News why he's kept a tight lid on the flick's details. "I feel like the fun of the movie is the experience of these characters and the most fun you can have as an audience is not going in feeling like you've seen more of the film than the characters have," he said. "My gut would be, as it always is, is that less is more. We have no intention of spoiling the fun prior to the film being released."

The MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by "Saturday Night Live" funnyman Jason Sudeikis and will air live on Sunday at 9 p.m. The show will also include an exclusive clip from "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1."

Abrams, Spielberg, Fanning and Courtney join a previously announced slate of presenters that includes: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Steve Carell, Emma Stone, Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey, Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy.

The show will also feature the Foo Fighters playing their new single "Walk" and two songs from Lupe Fiasco, who will serve up "The Show Goes On" and the first-ever televised performance of his Trey Songz collabo, "Out of My Head."
