Kid Scoop: 'Bubble Guppies', a Disney Channel Makeover, Nick's Power Rangers and More!

With each serving of Kid Scoop, we share the latest news in the world of kids' TV and movies, so YOU can be the know-it-all for a change. This week's scoop features Bubble Guppies, a new boy band TV movie, a remodeled Disney channel, and the Power Rangers' new home!

Here Comes Bubble
Nickelodeon blows life into a new CG-animated preschool series, Bubble Guppies, on January 24 at 11 am. Based on a kindergarten curriculum that includes math, literacy, arts, science and socio-emotional development, the show features on a group of ethnically-diverse preschool mermaid boys and girls, plus one mer-puppy. Beth Bogush, a veteran dance instructor who helped choreograph Angelina Ballerina, will develop dance moves for the show. Let's see who's light on their fins.

Go! Go! Power Rangers… To Nickelodeon
The irrepressible Power Rangers make their Nickelodeon debut on February 7. The latest series, Power Rangers Samurai, promises new Rangers, new villains, new stories and special effects. Of course, that’s what came with the last 162 versions (really only 15), but being on Nickelodeon may bring some surprising new elements… anyone ready for iPowerRanger?

Disney Junior Arrives
So Long, Playhouse Disney, Hello Disney Junior! Launching this Valentine's Day, Disney Junior will air weekday and weekend mornings on the Disney Channel. Brand new series include Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Mousekersize, Babar and the Adventures of Badou and Ting Tinga Tales. One new short form series, A Poem Is..., will be narrated by stars including Jennifer Garner and Katie Holmes. Disney Junior really grows up in 2012 when it moves to its own 24-hour basic cable channel.

When Life Gives you Lemonade Mouth
On April 15, Disney Channel premieres a new original movie, Lemonade Mouth. It's about five teenage musicians who (wait for it… wait for it…) form a BAND! Shocker! Based on a young adult book series by Mark Peter Hughes, it stars Bridgit Mendler (Good Luck Charlie), Adam Hicks (Zeke and Luther), Hayley Kiyoko (Wizards of Waverly Place), and Naomi Scott (Life Bites). Hicks performs three songs for the soundtrack, which will be released March 22.

Monkeys Sing, Monkeys Do
Hooray for Bollywood? Monkeys of Bollywood, the first-ever CG-animated feature musical to come out of DreamWorks Animation, is a re-imagining of a classic Indian tale from the perspective of two common monkeys. Swinging into the role of executive producer and lyricist is the legendary Stephen Schwartz. No word yet on voice talent or release date, but this is yet another sign of the growing influence of India's film industry… even if they start with monkeys.

Will Lemonade Mouth be the next High School Musical? Chime in now!
