Vanessa Hudgens 'Fell In Love' With 'Moulin Rouge'

MTV News will revisit Baz Luhrmann's 2001 movie musical Monday.

Vanessa Hudgens knows the power of the movie musical. She starred in two uber-successful "High School Musical" movies and played Mimi in "Rent." So, if anyone can speak to the undeniable influence of Baz Luhrmann's 2001 movie musical masterpiece, "Moulin Rouge," it's her.

"Oh my goodness! It was just a beautiful, very specific look that I feel like everybody could completely submerge themselves into," she told MTV News about the film before Monday's upcoming "Moulin Rouge at 10: A Spectacular Spectacular MTV News Event." "And it was fun, and it was thrilling, and your heart just went out for these characters. I fell in love with the movie, and I have not stopped watching it since."

Hudgens' "Sucker Punch" co-star Jena Malone immediately drew comparisons between "Moulin Rouge" and their equally fantastical flick, thanks to their musical scores. "It's an interesting segue because Marius [de Vries] also did the music for 'Moulin Rouge' and he did the music for 'Sucker Punch,' and he does such crazy abstractions," she said. "I mean, Baz Luhrmann's incredible."

MTV News will reunite Luhrmann, and the movie's stars, Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, on Monday at 3 p.m. ET on MTV.com. The director and actors will be joined by co-star John Leguizamo, who played artist Toulouse-Lautrec, and Catherine Martin, who won the Oscar for costume design and art direction. Hosted by MTV News' Josh Horowitz, the live stream will include special appearances and live interviews while looking back at how the film came to be and how its legacy continues to grow.

Don't miss "Moulin Rouge at 10: A Spectacular Spectacular MTV News Event" on Monday at 3 p.m. ET on MTV.com! Get in the conversation by tweeting @MTVNews with the hashtag #AskMoulin.

So a Lady and Her Monkey Walk Into a Petsmart...

I went to Petsmart yesterday to get some things for little Mary Margaret, and while I was pulling into the parking lot, I passed a lady getting out of her car with a monkey on her shoulders.

Of course I came to a screeching halt because there was a lady getting our of her car WITH A MONKEY ON HER SHOULDERS, and that's just something you don't see every day.

I proceeded to take a photo...

...but then thought it would be better to capture the craziness on video, so here it is:

Lady and Her Monkey Go to Petsmart from Karyn Bosnak on Vimeo.

When I told Mark about the lady and her monkey and showed him my movie, he said, "You really are crazy." I was like, "I'm crazy? THE MONKEY WAS WEARING A DIAPER AND PEARLS."

I mean, for real, let's put this into perspective.

Anywho, here's another photo of the lady and her monkey at the checkout counter:

I realize I now have one cat and two dogs, but at least I don't walk around with a monkey on my shoulders. (Yet.)

'Prom' Stars Suggest 'Elaborate' Ways To Get A Date For The Dance

'I like it where people ask in a way where it's unique to that person you're asking,' Kylie Bunbury tells MTV News.

For those who are in high school, or maybe work at one, the release of Disney's sweet and wholesome "Prom" movie kicks off that heavily hyped season of dress shopping, date anxiety and general excitement that surrounds one of America's most storied traditions.

When MTV News caught up with the film's stars, we asked them to discuss the challenging task of asking someone to prom and what should be done in order to get a prospective date to say "yes."

"An elaborate way," Janelle Ortiz said. "I think it has to be an elaborate way, because you're going to remember prom for the rest of your life."

"It's got to be creative," Joe Adler added. "Throw some effort on it."

"Exactly, you don't want it to be some stupid little flower: Go big or go home," Ortiz said.

"I like it where people ask in a way where it's unique to that person you're asking," Kylie Bunbury explained. "One of my friends, she was a softball player, and the boy wrote 'prom' on softballs and wrapped them around her car or something like that."

"[I like] the way his character asks my character," Yin Chang told us of co-star Jared Kusnitz, who plays Chang's long-term boyfriend in the film. "He got big posters of each letter and had a little speech for each letter."

"At the end of my speech, a spotlight shines down, and I'm holding a question mark," Kusnitz continued. "Very simple. Silence says it all."

"I think just be creative," Danielle Campbell advised, reiterating the thoughts addressed by her co-stars. "Know the girl you're asking. There are a lot of cool ways people ask in the movie. You can definitely steal an idea from there or create your own. We probably raise the standards with the movie," she said. "Be creative, and hopefully she'll say yes."

Paul Walker Says Brazilian People Were 'Excited' To Host 'Fast Five'

'I love to travel, and that's one of those places that, on my own, I would have never have ventured,' he tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner

For those heading to the theaters this weekend to see the action-packed, souped-up-car-gasmic "Fast Five," there are only a few things you should know going in: The cast is teeming with members from all four previous films (Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris are all back) and the movie was filmed all over the world, including in Puerto Rico, Arizona, Georgia and California, but mainly in and around the illustrious city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — including the storied and dangerous favela districts.

When MTV News caught up with Walker, we asked him how the crew managed to get clearance to film in such tough areas.

"That's the best part about the job, is we have a VIP card," Walker said of the production's exempt status. "For most people, especially the tourists, the favela is off limits, but we got permission basically from the drug lords to come up there and film," he revealed. "We got cops with us, but everyone knows the reason we're there isn't because the cops said, 'Go ahead and come up and in'; it's the cooperation with the drug lords."

Walker said he hung out with people from the area, as did the film crew, and everyone had a great time during the shoot.

"That's one of the best aspects of my job. I'm up there hanging out, and the people are friendly and I don't have anything to worry about. People are just excited we're there," he said. "I love to travel, and that's one of those places that, on my own, I would have never have ventured, but because we're here doing this, it made it all possible."

'American Idol' In 60 Seconds: Casey Abrams' Last Showmance

The Carole King songbook results in Abrams' second elimination of the season.
By Jim Cantiello

Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart

This week on "American Idol," the top six sang from the Carole King songbook, but the real theme of the night was showmances: Casey and Haley! Lauren and Scotty! Lauren and ... this dude [random audience guy]! Lauren and Steven Tyler! [Clip of Steven Tyler with a little blond toddler on his lap.] Damn, girl, are you trying to audition for "The Real World" or something?

But if we're talking musical promiscuity, Casey Abrams was the real "Hi De Ho." Pianos, trumpets, saxes, harmonicas ... The only thing he didn't hook up with was a melody.

Sit, Ubu, sit! Good dog. [Footage of Casey screaming plays with the sound of the Ubu "bark" from that '80s sitcom vanity plate.]

James Durbin had his best week yet but the brightest star on "Idol" was crazy Penny Marshall. [Jim is in a blond wig and sunglasses]. She is my inspiration.

I want to be her friend, I want to be Scotty's friend, and I really want to be Haley's fu-uh-riend, too.

Yo, Randy, why don't we "turn the other cheek" to Thursday night's results show, where Jimmy Iovine gave his two cents, and Haley told him where he could shove his two cents!

[Clip: Seacrest introduces Crystal Bowersox, but then the camera cuts to a burly male harmonica player.]

Whoa, Crystal really let herself go, didn't she? But Arrested Development hasn't aged a bit! [Footage of Bruno Mars and his 45-piece backing band, who were all sitting on a couch.]

And results!

There's your fake bottom three [the last contestants standing], there's your real bottom three [Lauren, Casey and Jacob sitting on the couch from earlier in the episode].

[Jim holds out a microphone as if he's a sports reporter on the field after the Super Bowl.] Hey, Casey Abrams! You just got cut from "Idol" for the second time. What are you going to do now?

[Jim shouts in a Casey voice.] "I'm going to Creepy World!" [Footage of him grabbing girls by the back of the neck and pulling them in for a kiss during his farewell performance.]

Ding!

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Cover Is 'Polarizing,' Perez Hilton Says

'She loves that people are talking about it,' gossip blogger tells MTV News.
By Jocelyn Vena

When Lady Gaga tweeted the Born This Way album art over the weekend, fans were a bit surprised by the cover photo, which features Gaga as a motorcycle/human hybrid.

Was it a joke? Was it for real? Well, it was for real, and even days later, everyone's still talking.

"They were definitely divisive and it was a polarizing image," Gaga's pal Perez Hilton told MTV News. "I knew it would really get a reaction out of people, and that was her intent. She could have easily gone for something expected, but that's the beautiful thing about Gaga."

The gossip blogger said the Nick Knight image's intention was to get people buzzing, whether or not that buzz ended up in the Mother Monster's favor. He even offered some insight into the photo's message, which has been lost on some of Gaga's Little Monsters.

"She always wants to keep people guessing, and I think the cover works on many different levels," he explained. "Literally, she was born that way, [like] some kind of mutant freak. There's a lot of energy in that picture."

He adds that the vibe captured in the image will also find its way into the music on the May 23 album release. "There's something very metal [about it and] 'Judas' [which was released last week] gives a taste of that dance/metal feeling," he said. "Once the album comes out and they listen to the music, the artwork will make more sense. She loves that people are talking about it."

What do you think of the album cover? Let us know in the comments!

Tom Hanks Says His College Years Inspired 'Larry Crowne'

'I was in junior college because it was my only option,' actor tells MTV News.
By Eric Ditzian

Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks in "Larry Crowne"
Photo: Universal Pictures

The first time Tom Hanks stepped behind the camera on a big-screen production, he captured a story set in the early 1960s, a period he had lived through as a preteen. But the particulars of "That Thing You Do!" — a rock band that rides a hit song to fame but can't follow through on their initial promise — couldn't have been further from Hanks' California childhood.

His second directorial effort, however, was inspired by events from his past, even if it does not seem so at first glance. In "Larry Crowne" — the upcoming comedy he also co-wrote and in which he stars with Julia Roberts — Hanks plays the title character, a guy fired from his job at a big-box retail store and forced to go back to college, where he meets a professor named Mercy Tainot (played by Roberts). But as Hanks told MTV News as part of our Summer Movie Preview week, he actually relates to his character's plight.

"My first years in college were much like Larry's," he told us. "I was in junior college because it was my only option — if I didn't enroll right after high school I would have had no path to any future. Two years in junior college became the jumping-off point for everything that came later and I think this was the same for others — not just kids out of high school, but guys back from Vietnam, wives going back to school after their kids were older, and folks who were looking to change their lives for the better."

While the genesis of the film came from Hanks' early college years, he enlisted Nia Vardalos, whose "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" he'd produced in 2002, to collaborate on the script.

"Nia and I talk all the time and laugh constantly, and I wanted a woman's voice to be a part of the movie, since Mercy Tainot is in a comparable life situation as Larry," Hanks explained. "Nia worked exclusively on the screenplay, based on meetings she and I had, for a number of drafts. Then the script sat in a drawer for a couple of years. I then worked exclusively on the screenplay through the complete production. The story evolved through both of us, though, and what I was shooting for was built up with every draft."

Roberts and Hanks have worked together before, on the political drama "Charlie Wilson's War," but they hadn't shared the screen on lighter material. He does, though, see a connection between that earlier film and "Larry Crowne" in that "we were playing real people in real circumstances." Similarities aside, Hanks simply knew Roberts was the perfect person for the role.

"Julia is Mercy Tainot — funny, wicked intelligent, driven and not one to suffer fools at all," he said. "But make no mistake of Julia's ability to find what is funny in a scene smack up against what is authentic."

For all the comedic elements of the film, there is a dramatic arc for both characters. Larry, for instance, essentially has to reinvent himself in middle age. And if Hanks had to refashion his own life, he joked that he'd strike out in a rather unexpected direction: "I'd go for the Iggy Pop look and gravitas."

Aziz Ansari Shares Advice For MTV Movie Awards Host Jason Sudeikis

'Parks and Recreation' star has tips for 'Saturday Night Live' castmember.
By Jocelyn Vena

It's official, boys and girls, "Saturday Night Live" star Jason Sudeikis is set to host the MTV Movie Awards when the show goes live June 5 from Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. Who will win Golden Popcorn statues? What kind of zany antics will go down? Nobody really knows, but one guy who understands what it's like to host the show is 2010 emcee and "Parks and Recreation" star Aziz Ansari.

So, what words of wisdom does Mr. Ansari have for Sudeikis nearly 12 months after his stint? "It's so much work, so definitely have a lot of uppers on hand, like just drugs that'll get you fired up," he joked to MTV News. "PCP is good to stay up all night, get all the work done. It's a cool thing though; it's back in vogue. It's like Twitter, PCP. It's like trendy things: Twitter, PCP, Jonas Brothers."

While we're not sure he'll take Ansari's advice, Sudeikis has made it clear he hopes to do a bang-up job. "I'm sincerely flattered that the folks from the Mostly Teenage Viewers network have invited me to host this year, and I look forward to keeping the streak of flawless and critically lauded Movie Awards show hosting in 2011 alive," Sudeikis joked.

The MTV Movie Awards nominees — based on your votes at MovieAwards.MTV.com — will be announced Tuesday, at which point you'll be able to vote for your favorite films and stars in categories like Best Fight, Best Kiss, Biggest Badass Star, Best Villain and, of course, Best Movie. Voting will continue through June 4, though Best Movie will remain open throughout the live ceremony June 5 — meaning you'll have a chance to affect the night's biggest prize until the very last minute.

'Geordie Shore': 'Jersey Shore' -- but in Britain!

'Geordie Shore': 'Jersey Shore' -- but in Britain!

Some say that what the world needs now is more Jersey Shore. The MTV show's Italian invasion is a good start. But what's further needed is some spawning: more Snookis, more The Situations, and so on. So TV executives from MTV's U.K. network has created a British clone, Geordie Shore, which premieres across the pond on May 24. ("Geordie" is a nickname for someone from the working-class region of Newcastle, England.)

So what's different about this Britified version? Not too much. But in the trailer below, you may notice that the Geordie Shore cast members are slightly better-looking doppelgangers of the original Seaside Heights crew. Watch the preview now!

At first, the Snooki look-alike isn't easy to discern; Snooki seems to be the style muse for a lot of these young ladies. But the one most like her is Sophie, who is known for her wild antics and for flashing her breasts (probably while drunk). As on Jersey Shore, the guys are pretty much interchangeable meatheads (with, no doubt, hearts of gold beneath their tanned and rippling chests). Jay may be The Situation of the group, promising to show off his buff bod at every opportunity. (To get acquainted with all the cast members, click here.)

So far, no one's bragging about their Italian heritage, or the benefits that go along with it -- like being really good at "GTL." But in class-conscious England, viewers will already know what to expect from these party people in working-class Newcastle -- 300 miles (but seemingly light years) away from the posh British royals in London.

And really, why should Prince William and Kate Middleton be the only ones who get to be on national TV?

'Conan The Barbarian' Is A 'Revenge Story,' Jason Momoa Says

'I've never played a role that was played by someone else,' star tells MTV News of Arnold Schwarzenegger's version.
By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Jason Momoa in "Conan the Barbarian"
Photo: Simon Varsano

"There's nothing tongue-in-cheek about it at all," Stephen Lang told us about the "Conan the Barbarian" reboot in which he co-stars. His point was that even unapologetic fans of Arnold Schwarzenegger's over-the-top films have to admit that, by the time Hall of Fame center Wilt Chamberlain popped up in 1984's "Conan the Destroyer," the franchise had veered from campily charming to just plain silly.

With Jason Momoa slipping into the title role, Lang promised, this new "Conan" would have more in common with Robert E. Howard's swashbuckling original stories than the Governator's movies. That's certainly the impression we've received from early photos and a teaser trailer, and that's exactly what Momoa himself told us when MTV News caught up with him recently. In fact, the 31-year-old hasn't even seen those earlier films.

The flick is set to hit theaters August 19, and as part of MTV News' Summer Movie Preview, we're not only rolling out an exclusive photo of Momoa in character, but had the actor lay out what we can expect to see up onscreen.

"It kind of is an origin story," he said. "It's rebuilding and rebooting the franchise. It starts with his birth, what happened to his family, what happened to his father — obviously his father is killed — and him going into the pirating and the thieving and wandering and being the degenerate that he is and then usurping a throne and finding out who killed his father. It's a revenge story, with a little bit of love in there."

And while Momoa hasn't "actually seen the Arnold stuff," as he put it, he can't wait to finally check it out. "I want to see mine and then I'm going to watch that one — back to back!" he laughed.

It's Summer Movie Preview Week, and MTV News will be bringing you exclusive interviews, clips and photos for the most anticipated films of the coming months. Get ready to gorge on inside looks at "Captain America," "The Hangover Part II," "X-Men: First Class," "Cowboys & Aliens" and more.

Adele Back At #1 On Billboard Chart, Pushing Britney Spears To #2

Spears drops to #2 as sales of Femme Fatale trail off in second week.
By Gil Kaufman

Adele's <i>21</i>

It's a bit early to call it a changing of the guard, but British songbird Adele will make a strong case that she is a major force to be reckoned with on the Billboard charts next week when her album 21 retakes the #1 spot.

Thanks to sales of 88,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Adele pulls the feat off — her fourth non-consecutive week at #1 since the album's release in late February — while forcing last week's #1, Britney Spears' Femme Fatale, down to #2.

Spears' highly anticipated new effort suffers a steep drop-off in its second chart cycle, plunging 73 percent on sales of 75,000, for a two-week total of 352,000. In contrast, Adele has pushed past the 1 million mark in seven weeks to notch the best-selling album of 2011 to date.

Also losing a significant amount (70 percent) of business in its second week is rapper Wiz Khalifa's Rolling Papers, which falls three spots to #5 on sales of 59,000. Masked rap-rock crew Hollywood Undead scored their best chart debut ever with American Tragedy, which comes in at #4 (66,000), while little-known metalers Asking Alexandria come in at #9 on sales of 31,000.

The rest of the top 10: Radiohead, King of Limbs (#3, 67,000); Chris Brown, F.A.M.E. (#6, 51,000); the iTunes Songs for Japan compilation (#7, 51,000); Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More (#8, 34,000); and Kirk Franklin's Hello Fear (#10, 31,000).

Jennifer Hudson's I Remember Me slips four spots to #11 as sales dip 46 percent to 31,000, while Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and former Band member Robbie Robertson scores a #13 debut (22,000) for How to Become Clairvoyant, his first studio album in 13 years. Rapper Jim Jones hits #20 with the debut of his latest, Capo (21,000), indie faves The Kills come in at #37 with Blood Pressures (13,000), and superstar DJ Tiësto is down at #52 with Club Life Volume One — Las Vegas (10,000).

On the iTunes album charts, it was all about the Songs for Japan album, which reigned supreme over Adele, who was followed by the Hollywood Undead, Spears, Mumford & Sons, Khalifa, Asking Alexandria, the TRON: Legacy Reconfigured special package, an "American Idol" digital album featuring the top nine, including shock castoff Pia Toscano, and the soundtrack Grey's Anatomy: The Music Event.

Katy Perry had the top of the iTunes singles chart on lock with her Kanye West collabo "E.T." beating out the Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough," Rihanna's "S&M," Britney's second single, "Till the World Ends," Blake Shelton's "Honey Bee" and Adele's smash "Rollin' in the Deep." The rest of the list included Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor" at #7, Chris Brown just behind with "Look at Me Now" and Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" and Ke$ha's "Blow."

Look for some movement at the top next week thanks to the debuts of the Foo Fighters' Wasting Light, Jessie J's debut Who You Are, the "Lemonade Mouth" soundtrack and a new album from folk-rock legend Paul Simon.

Paris Hilton Stalker Attacks Boyfriend Cy Waits

Paris Hilton Stalker Attacks Boyfriend Cy Waits

Paris Hilton has stalker drama to spare. On Wednesday, Hilton and her boyfriend Cy Waits were walking into a Los Angeles courthouse to testify against one of Paris' stalkers, when Waits was attacked by another of Hilton's crazed admirers. (If you're confused right now, just imagine how Paris felt!)

Here's what happened: The heiress and Waits were preparing to testify against Nathan Parada, the knife-wielding man who tried to break into Hilton's home last year. As the couple walked up to the courthouse with a crowd of trailing paparazzi, a man named James Rainford walked up and smacked Waits on the head. He was quickly tackled and subdued by one of Hilton's bodyguards -- and Paris recognized him immediately.

"That's the guy who came to my house on the bike... that's the other intruder who came to my house on the bike. He attacked the security at my house," she told Waits, according to ABC News.

Turns out Rainford is the guy who was arrested last October for riding his bicycle past a security gate and onto Hilton's property. After an altercation with her security guards, he pled no contest to civil assault and got three years probation.

"Omg @KathyHilton!" Paris tweeted to her mother after the incident. "That other psycho intruder just punched Cy in the back of the head as we were walking into the court house. So scary!"

TMZ has a video of the attack, in which you can watch the events unfold -- and see Rainford tell his side of the story. Which is, apparently, that he and Paris Hilton are engaged.

"I've already proposed to her and her dad already said yes," Rainford told the press. So, um, why was he following her to the courthouse? "I wanted her to autograph my picture of me proposing to her," he answered.

Naturally.

As of Wednesday evening, Rainford was being held in police custody. We're guessing he may be there for a while, as attacking celebrity boyfriends is no doubt at odds with the terms of his probation.

Is Tiffany Thornton Disney's Next Big Star?

Is Tiffany Thornton Disney's Next Big Star?

With Sonny with a Chance star Demi Lovato suddenly exiting the small screen and Wizards of Waverly Place's Selena Gomez not far behind, who will take over their spots atop the mantel of Disney Channel TV starlets? Look no further than Tiffany Thornton.

Don't let Tiffany's ripe old age of 25 or her upcoming marriage fool you. She can do "teen" with the best of them, especially now that she's the star of So Random!, the post-Lovato reincarnation of Sonny with a Chance.

Having played Tawni Hart on Sonny since 2009, Tiffany’s already a recognizable face to kids and tweens across the country, but the spotlight is much brighter now. And smaller. Will Tiffany be a breakout star like Lovato, Gomez, Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly), and Miley Cyrus?

Well, Tiffany had the poise of a star when she appeared on Fox & Friends last Tuesday morning, talking about her new show, Demi and her strong Christian faith. She also described how a life-threatening bout of meningitis inspired her to become the national spokesperson for Voices of Meningitis, a campaign to raise awareness about meningococcal vaccination for preteens and teens.

Like Debby Ryan, another rising Disney Channel star (who is seven years Thornton's junior), Tiffany has acted in a TV movie -- Hatching Pete --- and sung on various Disney soundtracks and albums. Give her just a little more time, and she might be the queen of teen TV before she hits 30.

Ever since they were first announced, the O Music Awards have proudly proclaimed themselves the untraditional alternative to the staid world of red carpets, acceptance speeches and celebrity glad-handing.

And for further proof of that point, consider the following: Though the inaugural O Music Awards won't premiere until April 28, the first award will be handed out on Monday at 4 p.m. ET ... and it's a big one.

For weeks, fans have been voting for the Most Innovative Music Video through the O Music Awards official site, and on Monday — in a roundtable debate moderated by MTV News' James Montgomery — a winner will be crowned.

The O Music Awards Debate for the Most Innovative Music Video, presented by FUZE®, will stream live on OMusicAwards.com and MTV.com. Joining Montgomery around the table will be acclaimed video director Wayne Isham, Mashable's Brenna Ehrlich and some super-secret celebrity guests.

The Black Eyed Peas, Ke$ha, My Chemical Romance and more will also take part in the discussion about just what makes a video truly innovative, and the folks who are nominated for the award — a list that includes Arcade Fire, Robyn, OK Go and Andy Grammer — will also Skype in to make the case for why their video deserves to be named Most Innovative.

On Monday morning, the original list of 10 nominees will be whittled down to the top five vote-getters, and then, during the debate, our roundtable and the Internet audience will cut that list down to the final three. At the very end, we'll announce the winner of the very first O Music Award for Most Innovative Video.

The inaugural O Music Awards will stream live from Las Vegas at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on OMusicAwards.com. Tune in to see who will reign supreme in categories like Most Viral Dance, Funniest Music Short and NSFW Music Video!

Tom Felton Picks Draco's 'Defining Moment' In 'Deathly Hallows'

'We see a tough moment for him when he doesn't know where his loyalties lie,' the 'Harry Potter' star tells MTV News.

As Tom Felton sees it, he's getting a little lazy these days. The 23-year-old "Harry Potter" star only has two mega-budget summer flicks coming down the line this season. In a recent MTV News interview, he laughed, "I should have worked it harder!"

Listen, Tom, there's a reason that in January we named you one of our "11 for '11," the young Hollywood players we were expecting big things from this year. And you haven't disappointed.

First up comes "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," the 3-D conclusion to the boy-wizard franchise hitting theaters July 15. Then on August 5, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" storms into the multiplex. It's going to be a very busy summer for Felton, so we just had to talk with him as part of our Summer Movie Preview. On Thursday, we'll be bringing you the actor's wide-ranging comments on "Apes." Now, with Felton as our guide, we dive into the world of "Harry Potter."

MTV News: With the end of "Potter" and another potential franchise in "Apes," does this summer feel like a particularly significant period in your career?

Felton: Very much so, which is why I'm looking to moving out to L.A. probably in the latter half of the year, mainly for work reasons. It's a great way for me to be seen in a different light, after the epic finale of "Potter."

MTV News: So you're moving to L.A.?

Felton: Yeah, me, my girlfriend and my dog. I just need to sort out everything with my dog. If she can come, then we're all good.

MTV News: This is the final one — the final impression of Draco Malfoy. In your mind, what's going to be his defining moment in "Part 2"?

Felton: Well, he seems so conflicted and he doesn't know what to do. When it comes to the final battle, he's still a bit confused about which way he should go. It's only in the last stages of the battle that he's really called upon from the dark side when he's standing on the good side, and we see a tough moment for him when he doesn't know where his loyalties lie. That's definitely going to be the defining moment for Draco. Hopefully, I nailed it. It's nice when I get sprung upon by the mega "Harry Potter" fans and they say, "We understand Draco's pain." It's like, "Thank you! That's a compliment! That's a sign I must have done good."

MTV News: I know you haven't seen the full thing, but they've been screening it for audiences and the producers told us it's brought people to tears.

Felton: I spoke to [producer] David [Heyman] the other day, and he said it got the highest rating of feedback of any "Potter" ever. It kind of goes without saying that it's one of the most highly anticipated films of, well, a really long time. Everyone making it knows that it. It's going to be exciting. I'm endlessly excited.

MTV News: Have you seen bits and pieces?

Felton: I saw bits and pieces when I did the ADR voice-looping. It looked amazing. I was forgetting to do my lines because I was just watching it going, "Wow, this is incredible!" And that was only half-finished with the special effects.

MTV News: Do you see any of the flash-forward epilogue?

Felton: I didn't! That was one of the sections they were most uncertain about and which route they were going. They were talking about it being too long or not long enough. I'm not entirely sure what it's going to be. I will say we filmed it, but how it's there in the final cut, I don't know.

MTV News: Did you take a prop at the end of the shoot?

Felton: Unfortunately, they're notoriously tight with those things. People were expecting there to be 100 broomsticks, but there weren't that many. There were, like, four. Naturally they kept them under lock and key. To be fair, they'd probably be better off in a museum than in my attic or my downstairs toilet.

Check out everything we've got on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2."

Britney Spears Drops Official 'Till The World Ends' Remix

New track with Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha follows leaked version, plus Brit tweets single's cover art.
By Jocelyn Vena

Just days after it was leaked on Friday, Britney Spears and her femme fatales, Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha, dropped their official remix of "Till the World Ends."

The new version of the song was produced by Dr. Luke and Dream Machine. Brit half-whispers " 'Till the World Ends' remix" before the beat kicks in and Nicki hits her verse hard. She spits fierce lines like, "Sniff, sniff, cries/ I done slayed your whole entire f---ing life."

Then Britney's sex-kitten vocals kick in for the song's first verse. "That's Britney, bitch! I'm Nicki Minaj and that's Ke$ha," the Queens MC declares before K sings the chorus. The beat is harder, the loops are sassier and the song is grimier than the original version, which was the second single from Femme Fatale. The newly added dubstep portion takes the one from "Hold It Against Me" to a new level by adding in bass-heavy synths.

Ke$ha, of course, wrote the track for Britney, and the ladies certainly don't seem to mind sharing the spotlight with each other. The official track isn't much different than the version that leaked over the weekend, though Spears did have something brand-new to share with her fans just as the song dropped on iTunes and streamed on her website.

Spears tweeted the artwork for the single, which features the original press photo of Spears along with separate photos of Nicki on the left and Ke$ha on the right. Spears wrote, "@NickiMinaj @Keshasuxx Too much fierceness for one cover! Thanks for lending your voices girls... #TTWEREMIX — Brit"

Spears and Minaj have been hanging out a lot in the lead-up to their summer tour. They hung out at the Factory nightclub on Friday night after Minaj's show in Los Angeles. Spears later wrote, "Early rehearsal after a late night with my girl @NickiMinaj. Can't WAIT to get out on the road with you."

(Yet.)

Katie Couric: I'm Leaving CBS News

Katie Couric: I'm Leaving CBS News

Katie Couric has made it official! Five years after becoming the first woman to host a nightly newscast on her own, Couric has finally announced that she is moving on.

"I have decided to step down from the CBS Evening News," she said in a statement Tuesday. "I'm really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we've been able to do. In making the decision to move on, I know Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future."

With Couric's contract expiring in June, there has been plenty of talk in recent weeks that the 54-year-old journalist would be vacating her position. But Couric says she has no plans to leave news world altogether -- she's just looking for new challenges in her career.

"I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling," she says. "The bottom line is that I love doing all kinds of different stories. I have a lot of areas of interest and I want to be able to fulfill all of that."

"There's a lot to be proud of during Katie Couric's time at Evening News, a rep for CBS said, regarding Couric's departure. "CBS News, like Katie herself, is looking forward to the next chapter."

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Cover: 'American Chopper' Star Weighs In

Paul Teutul Jr. tells MTV News he's puzzled by Gaga's motorcycle makeover.
By James Montgomery

When Lady Gaga unveiled the cover art for her much-anticipated Born This Way album over the weekend, even the most manic of Little Monsters seemed perplexed by her brand-new motorcycle makeover ... with some even going so far as to speculate that the cover was fake.

And if you think Gaga's fans are confused by the BTW cover, well, then you should hear Paul Teutul Jr.'s take on it. After all, he designs motorcycles for a living, first under his dad's tutelage at Orange County Choppers — made famous on Discovery Channel's "American Choppers" — and now with his own shop, Paul Jr. Designs. Turns out Junior's sort of at a loss when it comes to Gaga's new look.

"This chopper is very, kind of, uh, interesting. They kind of melted the motor around and stuff so it's hard to even see what they have ... they almost did a ribcage, kinda see-through in the tank. But none of it feels really smooth," he told MTV News. "The bike that it emulates the most is that 'Easy Rider' bike ... it has that king and queen seat, it's got the old-school exhaust, but I can't really tell what kind of bike it is."

Of course, aside from the assumed technical issues, Teutul Jr. said that he's most puzzled that the Born This Way album cover didn't go even further. Because, as he put it, what could be cooler than a full-fledged Gaga-cycle?

"Looking at it, I would've made it more of an integration of her into the bike. It would be more seamless. In other words, it would be her and the bike morphed," he said. "If you're Born This Way, then it almost has to look kind of mermaid-ish, in the sense that there's this fusion between the actual mechanical aspect and the human perspective. ... It's a little cut-and-paste looking. I would've done something even integrated throughout the bike that would've been more 'Lady Gaga.'

"How awesome would it have been if her entire body, like, her feet actually became the axle rod for the rear tire, and her body actually formed the entire bike? I mean, it could've been a more flowing, freakier look," he continued. "And that's what we do at Paul Jr. Designs. Our full integration isn't 'put a sticker on it.' Our full integration is we make that bike what the theme is intended to be. It's about pulling off the theme front-to-back."

And to that end, Teutul Jr. said that he'd love to work with Gaga on an actual motorcycle — it'd probably make for an interesting episode of his show, "American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior," which returns April 25 — because it would give him and his team a chance to do what they do best.

"I would get inside her head on the whole project, and really be able to pull off what it is, creatively, that she would want integrated into the bike," he said. "And for this tour, she could come out onstage and it could be a whole theatrical thing that ties around the actual album cover. I think it would be a great fit and we're both young and creative. It would be a great collaboration for sure."

Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul Reuniting for 'X Factor'?

Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul Reuniting for 'X Factor'?

Although Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul had a famously tense relationship as judges on American Idol, it looks like the two are about to reunite -- at Cowell's insistence! Cowell tells Deadline.com that he has offered Abdul a spot as a judge on his upcoming talent show, The X Factor.

Cowell has already signed Antonio "L.A." Reid, the former chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group) to sit on the panel, and he says the he has also offered a slot to Cheryl Cole, a former judge on the British version of The X Factor (which is still a hit show in the U.K.), to round out the group. Cowell had envisioned Mariah Carey being a judge, but her pregnancy complicated matters; however, Cowell says he still sees Carey having some kind of role on the show.

The X Factor has already begun auditioning thousands of hopefuls, and the eventual winner will receive the biggest prize in reality TV history, a $5 million record deal (compare that to the "only" $1 million recording contract that Idol winners get). Cowell is fully intending to find a "superstar." After all, The X Factor in the U.K. launched the career of world-famous singer Leona Lewis.

The judges on The X Factor will take on a one-on-one mentoring role with the finalists, something that distinguishes it from the strictly-panel format of American Idol.

While the deals to sign Cole and Abdul are not finalized yet, Cowell sounds hopeful and enthusiastic, especially at the prospect of working with Abdul again.

Cowell tells Deadline: "I've always wanted Paula... I missed her the second she left (American Idol). Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain... I don’t know what it is about her, but I've always clicked with her."

According to People, Cowell said last month, "There should be tension to a point (among the judges)... I liked the Idol panel when we first started. We had different opinions, and I think it's important you have different opinions."

Our opinion is that we would love to see Cowell and Abdul spar again -- it made for great television!

Ryan Phillippe: I'm Ready to Quit Acting

Ryan Phillippe: I'm Ready to Quit Acting

Mel Gibson isn't the only actor who says he could easily give up acting. Actor Ryan Phillippe, currently in New York at the Tribeca Film Festival to promote his new movie The Bang Bang Club, tells The New York Post, "I think I'm going to end my acting career. I'm so introverted. I'm ready to be behind the scenes. I'm 36, but I've been doing this for 20 years."

Phillippe got his start on the recently canceled soap One Life to Live when he was just a teenager, and he has been working steadily ever since. His high-profile marriage as a young man to Reese Witherspoon resulted in two kids, Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7. While it seemed like the couple had it all -- marriage, kids, hot careers -- rumors of infidelity began to emerge, and they split in 2006 after seven years of marriage. Witherspoon recently married talent agent Jim Toth, taking the two kids on their honeymoon.

Phillippe has had a rocky road romantically, with his pregnant ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp speaking out about how she will raise the baby on her own, and a new relationship with Amanda Seyfried. He has also been linked this year to Rihanna. There has also been the very public breakup with Australian actress Abbie Cornish, who may have started her relationship with Phillippe before his marriage to Witherspoon ended.

It all adds up to tabloid fodder, and it is that kind of attention which Phillippe seems to find so wearying. "It's so hard to go out in L.A. I'm going to move," Phillippe -- who's already scouting out places to live in New York City -- tells the New York Post.

A friend of the actor, however, insists that we haven't seen the last of Phillippe on the big screen -- not by a long shot. "He's been talking about expanding his talents to producing and directing, but never give up acting," the friend tells US Weekly. "He's not retiring from acting anytime soon!"

Either way, one thing Phillippe does seem to want to leave behind is his reputation as a party boy and womanizer, insisting to the NY Post, "I'm a good guy. I'm not that guy you read about."
